Importing your current emails, contacts and calendar(s) couldn’t be easier.
The web client that we use is Zimbra, an exceptional product that has extensive support to import data from various systems.
Note that these instructions are for use on a PC or Mac computer.
Calendar / agenda
Gmail
- Log into Gmail and go into Calendar.
- Click the cog wheel icon on the top right of the screen and choose
Settings. - Then click
Calendarsand thenExport Calendarsat the bottom of the list of calendars. - You will then download an iCAL ZIP file.
- Extract the ICS files from the downloaded zip file where you will find the individual Calendars from Gmail.
- Login to PrivateRelay and make sure to create the new Calendars if you don't want your calendar data to be imported into the default calendar. This is done by choosing
Calendarand the clicking the cog wheel icon to the right of the wordCalendarson the left. - Next go into
Preferencesand then clickImport / Exportfrom the left menu. In the Import window locate the calendar file you downloaded from Gmail. - Next click
Destinationand select the specific calendar where you want to import this data. - Click
Import, it may take some minutes to complete the import. - Repeat from step 7 for any other calendars that you would like to import.
Once complete you will find all your Gmail calendar data now available in the Calendar area of your PrivateRelay account.
Hotmail / Outlook
- Log into Outlook and go into Calendar.
- Click
Shareat the top section of the screen and then choose the calendar that you would like to export. - Choose
Obtain a linkand thenCreateon the first optionObtain read only links. - Copy the link in the ICS box. This begins with 'webcals://....'.
- Paste this link into another web browser window AND change first word
webcalstohttp. Hit enter and save the resulting file. - Login to PrivateRelay and make sure to create the new Calendars if you don't want your calendar data to be imported into the default calendar. This is done by choosing
Calendarand the clicking the cog wheel icon to the right of the wordCalendarson the left. - Next go into
Preferencesand then clickImport / Exportfrom the left menu. In the Import window locate the calendar file you downloaded from Outlook. - Next click
Destinationand select the specific calendar where you want to import this data. - Click
Import, it may take some minutes to complete the import. - Repeat from step 1 for any other calendars that you would like to import.
Once complete you will find all your Outlook calendar data now available in the Calendar area of your PrivateRelay account.
